Second wave of corona virus – Abhishek Mukhia

The second wave of corona virus has hit India tremendously , since a month . The states namely – Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are adversely affected by the virus . Maharashtra reported 58,924 active cases while Uttar Pradesh has reported 28,211 . On the contrary , Chhattisgarh reports 29.2% positivity rate in seven days . More than , 1700 people have died due to the pandemic , giving a steep rise to the highest mortality rate in a single day , till now .

Maharashtra tightened rules for milk and grocery shops . The shops can remain open from 7 am , in the morning till 11 am . But , home deliveries from the stores and restaurants will be permitted till 8 pm at night . Today , the Maharashtra state Cabinet conducted a meeting . Rajesh Tope , state Health Minister has said that all Cabinet ministers have asked the state chief minister to impose a complete lockdown from the following day . “We are to follow ‘ break the chain ‘ procedure . The chief minister will notify the lockdown from tomorrow at 8 pm” stated Rajesh Tope

Uttar Pradesh has imposed a week lockdown across the entire state which will continue till next Monday , 7 pm . Night curfews have been extended in all districts . Meanwhile , the Supreme Court has granted an interim ‘s day on the Allahabad High Court order which directed lockdown in major five cities in the state . Now , the Supreme Court has steeped in , that has put High Court order on hold .

Nirmala Sitaraman , finance minister of India ruled out nation wide lockdown and said that India can rule the second wave with micro-containment strategy so that the economy will not be arrested . “ Last year , when the lockdown was announced , India didn’t have proper arrangements for distribution of materials , ventilators and definitely , no vaccine . Now that we have all these , we can handle the second wave with better facilitation of migrant labourers and micro-containment zones “ asserted Nirma Sitharaman


Undoubtedly , the virus is menacing human life every now and then . If the protocols are followed by the citizens , then there is a less chance of being infected . By doing so , the death cases will not rise and the possibility of being safe will be heightened .
