Navamalati Neog Chakraborty: She taught English Literature in Dimapur Government College and Comparative Literature as Visiting Professor in Calcutta University. An Assamese who deeply loves her land, she is the youngest daughter of Professor Emeritus Dr Maheswar Neog (1915-1995),a thorough-going Sanskritist who gave the study of humanities in our country, a new vigor and belonged to the class of scholars of the 19th century Indian Renaissance. Navamalati is an ace translator, a reputed poet, critic, short-story writer and an artist. She reveals a penchant for strong straight expressions and has translated important and selected books from both Assamese and Bengali literature to English.
