Subhranshu Maitra is a renowned translator and writer. Born on April 9, 1952, hailing from Kolkata, Maitra’s foray into the world of translation began with his debut as a translator of notable works by authors like Ernest Hemingway and Howard Fast, translating them into Bengali. Some of his notable works include Gaandharva: Poems of Sankha Ghosh, published by Paschimbanga Bangla Academy, and Wrong Number and Other Stories of Mahasweta Devi, published by Seagull, Calcutta. He is also the author of Here & Beyond, an anthology of Bengali short stories written by women in the first half of the 20th Century, and The Jibanananda World, an anthology of literary essays on Jibanananda’s poetry and prose translated into English. He has translated Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novella Parineeta into English under the title The Betrothed. His forthcoming work includes Four Chapters, an English translation of Tagore’s Bengali novel Chaar Adhyay being published by Orient Blackswan, edited by Prof. Sekhar Bandyopadhyay.When My Mother Sang is his debut poetry book from Penprints.

Tapas Kumar Bandyopadhyay was brought up in a remote border town of a mofussil known as Balurghat in the Northern part of West Bengal. He spent his years in different towns of Bengal due to his father’s transferable administrative job during his childhood days. Mr. Bandyopadhyay did his Honours Degree in English, & taught in Atreyee DAV Public School, Balurghat, as a teacher for a long time. Currently, he is retired. Writing poetry has been his passion since childhood. He used to write poems, essays & stories in the local magazines of Balurghat. But his writings have never been published brfore in a book form. Withering Leaves is his debut poetry collection. His poems focus on love, loneliness & despair.
